Product Description

The 288FO (24x12) Air Blown Microduct Loose tube Fiber Optic Cable MM OM2 Dielectric Unarmoured (Part number: Z049) from KDP with 288FO and Dielectric Unarmoured construction . Air blown microduct fiber cable is optimised for injection into microducts and is used in optical networks, more specifically for use in Fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) and Fiber-to-the-Desk (FTTD) networks. This technique that is lower at cost, quicker and more environmentally friendly than traditional deployment, allowing a simpler instalation with less resources.

Fiber Type (ITU) - OM2 G.651.1

OM2 (Optical Multimode 2) is a type of multimode fiber defined by the G.651.1 standard. It has a core diameter of 50 microns and is designed for higher-bandwidth applications than OM1, supporting up to 10 Gbps over distances of up to 90 meters. OM2 is commonly used for data center applications and LANs, but is being replaced by higher-grade fibers for longer-range transmissions.

FOC Construction - Loose tube

While using a loose tube construction in cables, you can:

  • Pull and stretch without causing fractures from bending or tension;
  • Have full resistant protection of the fiber core, cladding and coating (mechanical protection and UV protection);
  • Reach optimized performances at extreme temperatures;
  • Avoid the risk of environmental damage (including water damage).

The loose tube construction solution can be chosen for the following applications:

  • Direct buried;
  • Aerial;
  • Duct;
  • Rodent resistant;
  • Indoor and outdoor;
  • Water-blocking;
  • Temperature endurance.

FOC Protection - Dielectric Unarmoured

Dielectric unarmoured is a type of fiber optic cable protection that provides electrical isolation without the added mechanical protection of an armor layer. This type of protection is achieved by using dielectric materials such as aramid yarns or glass fibers to provide strength to the cable. Dielectric unarmoured FOC is typically used in indoor installations, where the cable is not exposed to the same level of mechanical stress and environmental factors as outdoor installations. It is also used in applications where weight and flexibility are a concern, such as in aerospace or automotive industries.

Jacket Material - PE

PE (polyethylene) is a versatile jacket material that offers good protection against moisture, abrasion, and chemicals. It is highly flexible and has a low coefficient of friction, which makes it easy to install and handle. PE is also resistant to UV radiation and can withstand a wide range of temperatures, making it a popular choice for outdoor and industrial applications. However, it is less flame-resistant than other materials, which may limit its use in certain environments.
