Product Description

The 48FO (4x12) Duct Loose Tube Fiber Optic Cable OM4 FR-LSZH Rodent Protection Violet (Part number: K1FCR02048LPAA) from KDP with 48FO and Anti Rodent construction. Conduit cables are underground cables, that may be conducted by duct or buried directly into the ground. There are several types of protections for this cable such as anti-rodent or double protection. Conduit cables are built to withstand harsh environments and are typically routed by pull or blow.

The 48FO (4x12) Duct Loose Tube Fiber Optic Cable OM4 50/125μm FR-LSZH Rodent Protection Violet from KDP is a Duct cable with 48 fibers within 4 loose tube. This distribution cable for optical networks has a loose tube structure, a FR-LSZH UV stable polyethylene sheath with one ripcord underneath, a water blocking E-glass yarn and aramid yarn to prevent the progression of water inside the cable and a 1,8 mm FRP dielectric central strength member for mechanical reinforcement. The optical fibers comply with TIA recommendations OM4.

Fiber Type (ITU) - OM4 G.651.1

OM4 (Optical Multimode 4) is a type of multimode fiber defined by the G.651.1 standard. It has a core diameter of 50 microns and is designed for high-bandwidth applications over longer distances than OM3, supporting up to 10 Gbps over distances of up to 550 meters and 40 Gbps over distances of up to 150 meters. OM4 is commonly used for data center and enterprise networks and is optimized for use with VCSEL sources, offering lower attenuation and higher bandwidth than OM3.

FOC Construction - Loose tube

While using a loose tube construction in cables, you can:

  • Pull and stretch without causing fractures from bending or tension;
  • Have full resistant protection of the fiber core, cladding and coating (mechanical protection and UV protection);
  • Reach optimized performances at extreme temperatures;
  • Avoid the risk of environmental damage (including water damage).

The loose tube construction solution can be chosen for the following applications:

  • Direct buried;
  • Aerial;
  • Duct;
  • Rodent resistant;
  • Indoor and outdoor;
  • Water-blocking;
  • Temperature endurance.

FOC Protection - Anti Rodent

Anti-Rodent is a type of fiber optic cable protection designed to prevent damage from rodents such as rats, mice, and squirrels. This protection is achieved by applying a special coating or tape to the cable, making it difficult for rodents to chew through the cable and cause damage. Anti-rodent protection is particularly important in outdoor and underground installations where rodents are common, and can help to prevent costly and time-consuming repairs.

Jacket Material - HFFR

HFFR (halogen-free, flame-retardant) is a jacket material that offers excellent fire protection and reduced smoke emission in the event of a fire. It is designed to be environmentally friendly and safe for human health, as it does not contain halogens or heavy metals. HFFR is highly resistant to moisture and chemicals, making it suitable for harsh and demanding environments. However, it may be more expensive than other materials, and it may have a lower temperature rating, which may limit its use in certain applications.

Fiber Mode - Multi Mode (MM)

Multi mode fiber uses a LED or a VCSEL light source, is a type of optical fiber with a big core diameter that allows several rays of light to propagate. It is used in telecommunications and data transmission systems to transmit signals over small distances with high or medium attenuation and bandwidth to 10Gb/s. Multi mode fiber is ideal for medium-speed and small-distance applications, such as networks backbone and fiber to the desk in an enterprise network. Its large core provoques the dispersion of light, preventing signals to travel further and faster than with singlemode fiber.
