Product Description

The 48FO (4x12) Duct + ADSS Flex Tube Fiber Optic Cable SM G.657.A2 from Cablescom is a Universal Fiber Optic Cables with 48FO. Aerial self support figure 8 fiber optical cable configuration is the one in which the conductors and the steel strand which supports the cable are integrally jacketed. The cable portion is attached integrally with stranded steel messenger wires. Suitable for Aerial installation except on power lines. The cable design provides easy and economical one step installation and stable performance over a wide temperature range and is compatible with any telecommunication grade optical fibre. The strength member is designed to withstand the tensile forces of the installation and may be metallic or non-metallic. The design configurations of this cable consist of central tube or stranded loose tube.

The 48FO (4x12) Duct + ADSS Flex Tube Fiber Optic Cable SM G.657.A22 from Cablescom is a ADSS - Aerial cable with 48 fibers within 4 flex tubes. This compact distribution cable for optical networks has a micromodule structure (flex tube construction) which reduce the time needed for deployment, ease installation/ connectorization and a high density polyethylene sheath with incorporated non-metallic reinforcements, allowing a high dielectric capability and mechanical resistant. Longitudinally watertight by sweallable yarns and tapes to avoid water penetration. The optical fibers comply with ITU-T recommendations G.657.A2

Fiber Type (ITU) - OS2 G.657.A2

Each type of single-mode fiber has its own area of application, and the evolution of these optical fiber specifications reflects the evolution of transmission system technology from the earliest installation of single-mode optical fiber to the present day. Choose the right fiber is very important for each project/installation. The OS2 G.657 standard single-mode fibers were developed to allow a better bending radius regarding the G.652 standard. For the OS2 G.657 fiber there are 4 subcategories: G.657.A1, G.657.A2, G.657.B2, G.657.B3.

The G.657.A2 fiber type is characterized by 7.5 mm minimum bending radius. These specifications of the G657 fibers allow to have a better cost-efficiency due to compact cable designs and reduced space requirements. Find some benefits when using the G.657.A2 fiber type:

  • Low attenuation;
  • Excellent macrobend performance (low bending radius);
  • Flexibility;
  • Cost-efficiency.

FOC Construction - Flex tube

While using a flex tube construction in cables, you can:

  • Reduced installation time;
  • Easier handling, particularly in fiber distribution and termination units;
  • Fast access to fibers; easy to remove the module material with no tools required;
  • Small quantity of grease, minimizing clean-up time;
  • Avoid the risk of tube kinking (potentially causing attenuation increments or fiber breakage);
  • Simple mid-span breakout enabling single module extraction to aid distribution.

The cable flex tube construction solution can be chosen for the following applications:

  • Direct buried;
  • Rodent resistant;
  • Gunshot resistant;
  • Facade;
  • Indoor and outdoor;
  • Hybrid;
  • Underwater;
  • Tunnel.

Fiber Mode - Single Mode (SM)

Single mode fiber uses a LASER light source, is a type of optical fiber with a small core diameter that allows only one mode of light to propagate. It is used in telecommunications and data transmission systems to transmit signals over long distances with low attenuation and high bandwidth. Single mode fiber is ideal for high-speed and long-distance applications, such as internet backbone networks, cable television networks, and fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) services. Its narrow core reduces the dispersion of light, allowing signals to travel further and faster than with multimode fiber.
